Bishop Marks

The first type was a circle 15mm diaimeter divided through the centre, Above the line are two letters representing the month; below the line is a number being the day or the month. The earliest known is from 1661.
In 1713 the position of’ the month and the day was reversed.
The size of the circle increased consistently until in the 1780s it was 20mm in diameter.
